11. Install direct clutch hub and retaining snap ring
(Fig. 7A-89C).
12. Place forward clutch housing on pump delivery
sleeve and air check clutch operation (7A -90C ).

Disassem bly (Fig. 7A -9 1C )
1. R em ove interm ediate roller assem bly retainer snap
ring and retainer (Fig. 7A-92C).
2. R em ove roller outer race and roller assembly.
3. Turn unit over and rem ove backing plate to direct
clutch housing snap ring (Fig. 7A -93C ).

4. R em ove direct clutch backing plate, com position
plates, and steel clutch plates.
5. U sing clutch com pressor T ool J-4670 and J-21664,
com press spring retainer in arbor press and rem ove snap
ring (Fig. 7A -94C ).
6. R em ove retainer and fourteen (14) piston release
springs. Keep springs separate from forward clutch release
springs.
7. R em ove direct clutch piston (Fig. 7A -95C ).
8. R em ove outer seal from piston.
9. R em ove inner seal from piston.
10. R em ove center piston seal from direct clutch
housing.
Inspection
1. Inspect roller assem bly for popped or loose rollers.
2. Inspect inner cam and outer race for scratches or
wear.
