Turn the front o f the m ainshaft upward. Install the
follow ing com ponents o f the mainshaft:
1. Install the second speed gear with clutching teeth
u p w a rd ; th e rear face o f th e gear will b u tt against th e flange
on the mainshaft.
2. Install a blocking
downward over the synchronizing surface o f the second
speed gear. All th re e b lo c k e r rings used in th is tran sm issio n
are identical.
3. In stall th e second a n d th ird sy n c h ro n iz e r assem bly
with the fork slot downward; press it onto splines on the
m ainshaft until it bottom s
assemblies used in this transmission are identical. (If sleeve

becom es rem oved from 2-3 hub; notches on hub O .D . face
forward end o f m ainshaft.) Be sure the notches o f the
blocker ring align with the keys o f the synchronizer
assembly.
4. Install snap ring retaining synchronizer hub to
m ainshaft. Both synchronizer snap rings are identical. Turn
the rear o f the m ainshaft upward. Install the follow ing
com ponents on the mainshaft:
5. Install the first speed gear with clutching teeth
upward; the front face o f the gear will butt against the flange
on the mainshaft.
6. Install a blocker ring with clutching teeth downward
over synchronizing surface o f the first speed gear.
7. Install the first and reverse synchronizer assembly
w ith fork slot downward; push it onto splines on the
m ainshaft.
