Oil Pump and Internal Case Components
Rem oval
1. If necessary to replace, pry front seal from pump
(Fig. 7A -31C ).
2. R em ove pump attaching bolts.

3. Install two 3 /8" -1 6 threaded slide ham m er bolts, J-
9539 w ith w eights J-6585-01, into bolt holes in pum p body
and rem ove pump assembly from case (Fig. 7A -32C ). (See
illustration for location o f threaded holes.)
4. R em ove and discard pum p to case seal and gasket.
5. R em ove forward clutch assembly and turbine shaft
from transm ission (Fig. 7A -33C ).
6. R em ove forward clutch hub to direct clutch housing
thrust washer, if it did not com e out with forward clutch
housing assembly.
7. R em ove direct clutch assem bly (Fig. 7A -34C ).
