Media Feed is Not Smooth

A variety of problems can occur if the media feed is not smooth. This can cause such problems
as poor printing quality, contact with the media by the print heads, misaligned positioning, or
media jams. Take action as follows.

Media Wrinkles or Shrinks

Is the media loaded and set up straight and securely?
Feed is not smooth when the media is not straight or is tensioned unevenly on the left and right. Reload the
media.

Was loaded media allowed to stand for some time?
If media is loaded and left for several hours, it may wrinkle or shrink. When printing is finished, remove the
media.
Are the media clamps mounted?
Be sure to mount the media clamps when printing on the media which is less than 0.5mm (0.02 inch) thick.
Is the temperature of room too low?
Use this machine in an environment having an ambient temperature of 20 to 32°C (68 to 90°F). If used in the en-
vironment where the temperature is below 20°C, the media may get wrinkled depending its type or width.
Is the using media deflected?
If using the deflected media, it cause winkle of the media.
Is the humidity of the room too high?
Use this machine in the environment of 35 to 80 %RH (non condensation).

Media Feed Is Not Straight

Is the media loaded and set up straight and securely?
Feed is not smooth when the media is not straight or is tensioned unevenly on the left and right. Reload the
media.

Are the pinch rollers positioned on top of the media?
If the pinch rollers are not positioned correctly on top of the media, the media will not feed properly. Load
the media again.
