Configuring the System to Use a Gateway

A gateway connects two otherwise incompatible networks, performing code and
protocol conversion between IP and ISDN protocols. If the system is configured to
use a gateway, you must also configure it to use a gatekeeper.
1.
Go to System > Admin Settings > Video Network > IP Network > Gateway.

Configure these settings:
Setting
Description
Country Code
Specifies the country code for the system's location.
Area Code
Specifies the area or city code for the system's location.
Number
Specifies the gateway's number.
H.323 Extension
Specifies the extension that identifies this system for incoming
(E.164)
gateway calls.
The default H.323 Extension is based on the system serial
number, but it can be changed.
Gateway Number
Specifies the type of number users enter to call this system:
Type
Number of Digits in
Specifies the number of digits in the DID number.
DID Number
The national or regional dialing plan for your location determines
the standard number of digits. For instance, the US standard is 7
digits.
Number of Digits in
Specifies the number of digits in the extension used for the DID
Extension
number.
Your organization's dial plan determines this number.

Select
and enter the required prefixes and suffixes for each call speed.
Associating prefixes and suffixes with particular bandwidths on your gateway can
optimize the use of bandwidth by your organization. The gateway must also be
configured to use the prefixes and suffixes you define.
Direct Inward Dial (DID)—Users enter an internal extension to
call this system directly.
Note: If you choose this option, you must also register the
number with the gatekeeper as an E.164 alias.
Number + Extension—Users enter the gateway number + ##
+ Extension to call this system.
