Part 1 Getting Started

1.3 Part Names and Functions

This describes the names of the parts of the PC-12 and how they work. Read this when you want to know more about the locations and
operation of the parts described in this manual.

Front View

Media-ejection tray
NOTICE
Do not open the front cover while the PC-12 is in operation.
Opening the front cover stops operation of the PC-12, but media being printed may be creased. However, it is safe to
open the front cover if you are prompted to replace the ink-ribbon cartridges during printing. In such cases there is
not danger of the media being creased.

Interior

Indicator sticker (black and silver)
This sticker is for verifying the reference position of
the carriage. It must be kept clean. If it becomes dirty,
gently wipe it clean using a dry cotton swab. When
doing this, take care not to peel off the sticker.

Media-ejection area
Printed media comes out here.
Latch (blue area)
This secures ink cartridges in the ink-cartridge holder.
Front cover
This cover protects the internal
mechanisms. Keep the front cover closed
when performing printing.
Front-cover eject button
Pressing this button opens the front cover.
You use it to open the cover when replacing
ink-ribbon cartridges or when media is
jammed. When opening the front cover,
open it gently while supporting it with your
hand.
Ink-ribbon cartridge holder
This is the holder in which ink-ribbon
cartridges are installed. These holders are
found at five locations. You can install two
ink-ribbon cartridges in a single holder, up to
a maximum of nine ink-ribbon cartridges.
You can install cartridges of any color into
any holder.
