DUPLEX
This function copies originals on both sides
of paper.
You can run the Duplex function in the fol-
lowing two modes:
1 Sided→ → → → → 2 Sided
This mode makes two-sided copies from
one-sided originals.
2 Sided→ → → → → 2 Sided
This mode makes two-sided copies from
two-sided originals.
Limitation
You cannot use the following copy paper
in this function:
• Paper smaller than A5
both sides of A5 paper), or 5

• Translucent paper
• Adhesive labels
• OHP transparencies
• Post cards
You cannot use the bypass tray.
Note
You can copy on both sides of paper with
sizes of 64 - 104 g/m
"1-Sided→2-Sided" is enabled as the ba-
sic display at the factory. You can change
this setting. See ⇒ P.96 "Default Setting."
You can specify whether 1 Sided→2 Sided
or 2 Sided→2 Sided is to be selected by
default when you select Duplex. See ⇒
P.99 "Duplex mode priority setting."
Pressing [Duplex/Series Copies] once
when 1-Sided→2-Sided is selected turns
on 1 Sided→1 Sided.

Note
Specify the odd or even number of origi-
nals when using the 1-Sided→ → → → → 2-Sided
mode. If you do not know the number of

document feeder count the number of origi-
nals.
A right margin of 5 mm(0.2") is set on the
backside automatically. You can change
this margin. See ⇒ P.99 "Margin Auto
shift."
When Front Cover and Front/Back Covers
are selected, the front and back covers are
copied on one side of paper, respectively.

Set portrait originals in the

(landscape) direction. The up-down re-

lationship will be reversed on the front and
back pages of 2-sided paper if a portrait origi-
nal is set in the landscape orientation or a land-
scape original is set in the portrait orientation.
