KLN 94 Pilot's Guide
find out that vectors will be provided you can still easily activate the
Vectors feature of the KLN 94 with the waypoint IAF loaded in FPL 0.
5. Press F to display the list of waypoints for the approach (figure 6-
34). When Vectors is selected
the first waypoint will be the FAF.
6. Press F to load the approach
into FPL 0. As before, the
approach waypoints are inserted
prior to the airport identifier (fig-
ure 6-35). The vectors-to-final
(VTF) annunciation is now dis-
played on the right side of the
screen. The VTF annunciation
is white at this time to indicate
that a radar vector approach has
been loaded into FPL 0 but has
not yet been activated.
Now that the approach has been loaded into the active flight plan you can
return to the map page. If your clearance is to KLNK, you will have to do a
Direct To KLNK. As you near the Lincoln area you are eventually given
vectors (headings) to fly that will get you established on the charted
inbound course to the FAF. We are now ready to conduct the approach.
1. When you are within 30 NM of the airport, the KLN 94 will automati-
cally arm the approach mode
and provide the following mes-
sage: *Press ALT To Set Baro.
At this time the KLN 94 will
smoothly change the CDI scale
factor to ±1.0 NM. APR ARM
(or TERM) is now annunciated
(figure 6-36).
2. When you start receiving vectors
for the approach it is time to
"activate vectors." Press the
P button to display the
PROC 1 page (figure 6-37). If
you chose vectors from the IAF list then the cursor will already be
over Activate Vectors? on line 4 as well as over the FAF (LNK in this
case) and inbound course to the FAF on line 5.
NOTE: If a waypoint IAF (instead of Vectors) was initially selected when
the approach was loaded into FPL 0 it will be necessary to use the right
outer knob to move the cursor over lines 4 and 5.
