Adding Security to a UNIX or Linux Cube

You can secure your cubes against the users, groups, and roles in your configured
Cognos namespace, and update these security objects and any associated views in
the UNIX or Linux environment by using Model Definition Language (MDL)
scripts.
For more information, see the Cognos Transformer Developer Guide and the
Administration and Security Guide.
Note: If you are using a Series 7 Access Manager namespace with Cognos
Transformer, Content Manager must be on an IBM Cognos Series 7 -supported
platform. For information about supported UNIX and Linux server configurations,
see the Architecture and Deployment Guide. For an up-to-date list of supported
environments, visit the IBM Cognos Customer Center http://www.ibm.com/
software/data/cognos/customercenter.
Although you can use a delete script to remove an entire namespace, to selectively
remove obsolete security objects, you must modify your model in Cognos
Transformer on Windows. The same applies if the contents of your namespace
change, because such changes will affect your custom views.
Controlling Processing with Preference Settings or Environment
Variables
You can control specific operating characteristics of Cognos Transformer by using
preference files, mainly the cogtr.xml file located in the installation_location\
configuration directory, environment variables, or the -d ("-d option" on page 214)
or -f ("-f option" on page 217) command line options.
Note: You can also specify preferences in the Cognos Transformer user interface,
from the File menu.
All preference file settings can be used as environment variables and as arguments
with the command line options.
You can use multiple preference files.
Cognos Transformer searches for preference settings in the following sequence:
1. the cogtr.xml preference file
2. the environment variables
3. the -d or -f command line option

Note: If the command line contains both -d and -f, Cognos Transformer uses
the one that appears last.
