Manual Feed
Use the Manual Feed when...
printing items that must go through a straight paper path to avoid curling the media or
damaging the printer.
Following are examples of media that require manual feed:
Envelopes
Adhesive Labels
Heavy or special paper, such as a single sheet of letter head paper
Odd-sized paper
Note: When the printer is in Power Save mode, the first page inserted into the Manual
Feed pass through the printer without printing. Insert a dummy page ahead of the page
to be printed.
Setting Up the Software
To print in Manual Feed mode, perform the following steps:
1
In your software's page setup or Remote Control Panel setup menu, select "Manual
Feed" mode.
2
To prevent a paper jam, select the correct paper size in your software. For example,
do NOT select letter size paper in your software, then try to feed legal paper into
the Manual Feed slot.
3
If printing envelopes, insert face-up with the bottom edge aligned against the left
side of the Manual Feed slot.
Through the software application, send the print command. The printer's MANUAL
LED blinks, indicating the printer is ready to receive paper at the Manual Feed slot.
Selecting the Correct Paper Path
Use the face-down paper path for normal paper. Use the face-up (Manual) paper path
for envelopes, transparencies, labels, odd sized and/or heavy paper.
