Bringing up a New Cisco CRS-1 Router

Entering the Initial Configuration Using the Setup Mode Prompts

Because a new system contains no configuration, the router automatically enters Setup mode during
initial bring up. Setup mode prompts you to enter the basic settings necessary for network
communication and router management.
The following sections summarize the procedures used to complete initial configuration of the router:
Prerequisites
To configure the Ethernet management port for network communications, you must enter the interface
network addresses and subnet mask. Consult your network administrator or system planner for this
information.
Restrictions
The Setup mode is available only during the initial boot of a new router, or if a valid configuration cannot
be found.
