Entering ROM Monitor Mode
Resetting the Configuration Register and Reloading the Router
In normal operating conditions, it should not be necessary to enter ROM monitor mode. If you do find
it necessary to place the system in ROMMON, make sure that the system is in a steady state and that you
are prepared for the consequences of a system reload. In particular, verify the items described in the
"Prerequisites" section on page

Prepare the primary RP:
Anticipate substantial downtime, including loss of packet forwarding on the system.

Verify that all changes to the active router configuration are saved with the commit command
in configuration mode.

EXEC mode.
