Chapter 8 Wireless Screen
The following table describes the general wireless LAN labels in this screen.

Select Access Point from the drop-down list.
This makes sure that only compliant WLAN devices can associate with
the NWA.
Select 802.11b Only to allow only IEEE 802.11b compliant WLAN
devices to associate with the NWA.
Select 802.11g Only to allow only IEEE 802.11g compliant WLAN
devices to associate with the NWA.
Select 802.11b/g to allow both IEEE802.11b and IEEE802.11g
compliant WLAN devices to associate with the NWA. The transmission
rate of your NWA might be reduced.
Select 802.11a to allow only IEEE 802.11a compliant WLAN devices
to associate with the NWA.
Select 802.11n/g to allow both IEEE802.11n and IEEE802.11g
compliant WLAN devices to associate with the NWA. The transmission
rate of your NWA might be reduced.
Select 802.11n/a to allow both IEEE802.11n and IEEE802.11a
compliant WLAN devices to associate with the NWA. The transmission
rate of your NWA might be reduced.
The options in this field depend on the 802.11 modes that your device
supports:
• NWA-3166 supports 802.11b/g, 802.11a, 802.11n/g and
802.11n/a.
• NWA-3160 supports 802.11b only, 802.11g only, 802.11b/g
and 802.11a.
• NWA-3163 supports 802.11b only, 802.11g only and 802.11b/
g.
This field displays only when you select 802.11n/g or 802.11n/a in
the 802.11 Radio Mode field.
A standard 20MHz channel offers transfer speeds of up to 150Mbps
whereas a 40MHz channel uses two standard channels and offers
speeds of up to 300Mbps. However, not all devices support 40MHz
channels.
Select the channel bandwidth you want to use for your wireless
network.
It is recommended that you select 20/40 (20/40 MHz). This allows
the NWA to adjust the channel bandwidth depending on network
conditions.
Select 20 MHz if you want to lessen radio interference with other
wireless devices in your neighborhood.
