Configuring the Incoming/Outgoing Deny List

The FaxPress server provides Administrators the ability to not only control who in the
enterprise can send and receive faxes, but also control which phone numbers faxes can be
sent to and received from. This feature is excellent for preventing the receipt of unwanted
"junk" faxes and to prevent outgoing faxes from reaching known unauthorized or non-
functional numbers.
By capturing the CSID/ANI information of the incoming fax, FaxPress checks this
information against the incoming/outgoing deny list, or blacklist. If the CSID/ANI matches
the information in the deny list, the fax is routed to the Administrator (or an Unaddressed
user, if desired). The rerouted call will appear in the received fax log with the following
entry, "Incoming CSI [or ANI] Blacklist."
For outgoing faxes whose CSID/ANI information matches an entry in the deny list, users
will be able to submit the fax but it will immediately be labeled as "Failed," and the
corresponding entry in the log will be "Outgoing Blacklist."
Note: Incoming CSID-blocked calls might not be shown in the error log if your
FaxPress server is equipped with an EICON fax board.
The incoming/outgoing deny list feature is configured by editing the blacklist.cfg
configuration file on the FaxPress server. This configuration file can be edited in any
standard text editor, such as Notepad or WordPad.
Before configuring the blacklist.cfg file, it is necessary to make changes to the FaxPress
server's registry.
To setup the incoming/outgoing deny list on the FaxPress server:
1.
Create a new text document using Notepad.
2.
Save the document using any combination of numbers and letters for a filename.
However, the three-letter extension must be .REG, which designates a Windows
Registry file.
3.
In the new registry document, paste in the following text:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dialogic\GammaLink\DM3Fax]
"AniLnCallPending"="Yes"
4.
Save the document, then double-click it to execute it.
5.
Click 'Yes', then 'OK' to finish updating the registry.
Before continuing, verify the registry change:
1.
Select Start>Run, type REGEDIT, then click OK.
2.
In the Registry Editor, expand the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dialogic\GammaLink\DM3Fax tree.
3.
On the right side, verify that the key is added with the Data value of 'Yes'.
