4.3 FineLine User Interface – Operation
4.3.1 Overview
The FineLine User Interface (UI) runs on an HMI, which can be a CNC Controller or
Industrial Computer. Since the HMI may include a touch screen interface, "press"
and "click" are used interchangeably to describe interacting with the FineLine UI.
The System is capable of several different plasma processes; however, "cutting" will
be used generically to describe the user interface:
• Cutting completely severs solid material, like plate and structural steel.
• Marking creates a noticeable mark in the material surface without cutting all
the way through the metal.
• Grid cuts through a non-continuous workpiece, like expanded metal.

The following high-level sequence shows the steps required to prepare the System
to cut using the FineLine UI. Each step is described in detail later in this section.
