Numeric codes when sending faxes (300-444)

Error codes that can display when sending a fax.
300: The fax completed successfully. No action is required.
311: Stop key was pressed before the fax completed. Send the fax again.
312: Receiving fax machine failed to answer the call. Confirm you dialed the correct number. If correct, check
with the machine owner to see if it is configured to accept faxes or if it is in an error state.
313: The receiving fax line is busy. Send the fax once the line is clear.
314: Sending fax machine initiated a remote diagnostic session but the receiving machine disabled diagnostic
access. Enable or disable remote diagnostics, depending on if you can coordinate the settings with the owner.
315: Sending fax machine initiated a remote diagnostic session, but the receiving machine is not compatible
with the diagnostic version. Remote diagnostics cannot occur between machines with incompatible versions.
317: Fax sent at a speed and modulation that the receiving fax machine does not support. Configure the speed
and modulation settings with the sending and receiving fax, if possible.
318: Sending fax machine is using a page width that is not supported by the receiving machine. Use a standard
(letter or A4) page width.

enabled. Enable or disable BFT, depending on if you can coordinate the settings with the owner.
320: Sending fax machine initiated a poll reception, but the receiving machine is not configured for poll
transmission. Configure the transmission settings with the sending and receiving fax machine depending on if
polling is required.
321, 322, 323, 324: Telephone connection failed or there was a communication error with the receiving
fax machine. Check for poor line conditions and resend when conditions improve. If necessary, set a slower
transmission speed. For larger documents, send as several smaller documents and at a lower resolution.
325, 326, 327, 328: Check for poor line conditions. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.
Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if necessary.
329, 330, 331: Receiving fax machine reported one or more pages were received in non-Error Correction Mode
(ECM) with excessive errors. Check for poor line conditions. Enable Error Correction Mode (ECM) and select a

Check for poor line conditions. Older phone lines, static on the line, power brownouts, or other power-
related problems can cause communication failures. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to
improve.
Stop key was pressed on the receiving fax machine before the fax completed. Contact the person
receiving the fax to see if they are cancelling the transmission. If not, send the fax again but at a slower
transmission speed.
A noise from call waiting service disrupted the call. Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if necessary.
