Managing and Troubleshooting the Versalar Switch Router 15000
Introduction to Event Logging
Each card in the router (for example the forwarding processor cards) can generate
event messages that are entered into an event log. The SSP cards process and store
event log messages. The primary, active SSP stores all log messages generated by
the cards. The secondary, redundant SSP can log entries, but because of its
standby status, typically contains nothing in its log. Log entries are sorted
chronologically by entry date/time. The log file indicates which slot generated an
event; for example, if a CAP in slot 3 issues an event, the log indicates that the
event is from slot 3.
