Introduction to Versalar 15000 Billing
The billing process for the Versalar 15000 involves gathering traffic statistics that
classify actual resource utilization based on differentiated service level
agreements (SLAs). An SLA is an agreement between a service provider and the
customer that allows IP services to be billed at different rates. For example, a
customer could be charged a higher rate for all premium traffic under such an
arrangement.
The committed information rate (CIR) determines a customer's service level and
payment rate. With CIR, a contracted amount of guaranteed bandwidth is
allocated as part of the service level agreement. If the customer exceeds the CIR,
traffic is marked as discard eligible (DE) and has a higher probability of being
dropped than traffic below the contracted CIR.
