Using the BLOCK Operation (continued)
8-14
Entering Ladder Programs
When a choice is made by pressing a function key, prompts will guide you in
entering the necessary information. The F1 function key will remain an
ABORT if you need to halt the operation; the other choices will disappear
from the screen. After the information is typed, pressing the Return key will
begin the requested operation. While the operation is in progress,
REQUESTED OPERATION IN PROGRESS, will be displayed on the
screen.
This function key is used to select the block which will be
SELECT
F2
manipulated. The block which is selected will remain
selected until you leave the BLOCK hierarchy or you select
a new block. To select a block, use the arrow keys to
position the cursor over the appropriate fields and enter the
values. (The default value for the block is the rung
currently at the top of the screen.) If you wish to select only
one rung, type the same address or zero for the second
prompt.
This function key will copy the selected block to a specific
COPY
F3
location in the program. The selected block will then exist
in both places: that is, the block will be in its original
location and in the location to which it was sent; The
address AFTER which the block is to be placed is typed
next to the prompt on the screen. Finally, press the Return
key to start the copy operation. NOTE: if you copy box
operations, such as timers and counters, be sure to change
the identifying number for the box operation so that each
box operation has an identifying number which is unique.
Also, you must copy the block to a location outside of itself.
This function key is essentially a COPY operation, except
MOVE
F4
that the original block is deleted. To move a block, press the
function key and type the address AFTER which the block
is to be placed.
This function key will delete the block selected. After the
DELETE
F5
key is pressed, a prompt asks if you are sure you wish to
delete the selected block. If you do not wish to delete the
block, press the NO (F1) function key to halt the operation.
If you do wish to delete the block, press the YES (F2)
function key to start the operation. After the block is
deleted, the rungs following the block will be moved into the
vacated space. Also, the selected block will default to the
rung shown at the top of the screen.
