SIMATIC VPU200/560 Programming Manual
(DELete CHaracter.) This function key is used to delete the
DELCH
F3
character on which the cursor is placed and will move the
other characters over to fill the vacated space.
(INSert CHaracter.) This function key will allow character
INSCH
F4
(or string of characters) to be inserted. The characters will
be inserted at the space just before the cursor. When the
key is first pressed "INSERT ON" will appear on the screen
to indicate that characters may be inserted. Characters will
continue to be inserted until the function key is pressed
again, which will also remove the "INSERT ON" phrase
from the screen.
(DELete LiNe.) This function key will delete the line on
DELLN
F5
which the cursor is placed. The location of the cursor on the
line is not important. The rest of the lines of text will move
up to fill the vacated line.
(INSert LiNe.) This function key will insert a line above the
INSLN
F6
line on which the cursor is placed. Note, however, that if the
maximum of 16 lines are already on the screen, you will be
unable to insert another line. To insert the line, a line
would first have to be deleted so that there was room on the
screen for the new line. The location of the cursor in the
line is not important. After the blank line is inserted, the
cursor will move to the first position of the new line.
(EDIT or COMPoSE mode.) This function key
EDIT/COMPOSE
F7
switches between Compose and Edit modes. When "EDIT"
is displayed, pressing the function key will change the mode
from Compose to Edit. "EDIT" will change to "COMPSE",
which indicates that pressing the function key once more
will return the mode to Compose.
The difference between Edit and Compose mode is the
operation performed when the Return key is pressed. This
is also equivalent to what happens when you type beyond
the end of a line. In Compose mode the Return keg will
cause a blank line to be inserted below the current line. The
cursor will move to the first position of the new blank line.
Also, any characters of a word which are entered beyond
the end of the line will cause the entire word to be carried
around to the beginning of the new line. This means that
you may enter text without stopping to hit the Return key.
In Edit mode, the Return key will not cause a blank line to
be inserted. Instead, the cursor will move to the first
character of the next line of text. Also, the VPU will stop
accepting and displaying characters which are typed
beyond the last space of the current line.
