Naming the Program Disk
(EDIT or COMPoSE mode.) This function key switches
EDIT/COMPSE
F7
between Compose and Edit modes. When "EDIT" is
displayed, pressing the function key will change the mode
from Compose to Edit. "EDIT" will change to "COMPSE",
which indicates that pressing the function key once more
will return the mode to Compose.
The difference between Edit and Compose mode is the operation performed
when the Return key is pressed. This is also equivalent to what happens
when you type beyond the end of a line. In Compose mode the Return key
will cause a blank line to be inserted below the current line. The cursor will
move to the first position of the new blank line. Also, any characters of a
word which are entered beyond the end of the line will cause the entire word
to be carried around to the beginning of the new line. This means that you
may enter text without stopping to hit the Return key.
On the other hand, in Edit mode, the Return key will not cause a blank line
to be inserted. Instead, the cursor will move to the first character of the next
line of text. Also, the system will stop accepting and displaying characters
which are typed beyond the last space of the current line.
(DELete title.) This function key will delete the title. After
DEL

the function key is pressed, the system will ask if you are
sure you wish to delete the title. Pressing the YES (F2)
function key will cause the title to be deleted; pressing the
NO (F1) function key will abort the delete operation and
display the first menu on the screen.
