put the 10/100 + 56K Modem PC Card at the speed you
want. Setting the PC Card's speed manually will over-
ride its ability to automatically sense a host's speed dur-
ing your computing session. If you manually tell the
10/100 + 56K Modem PC Card to run at a speed of
33.6Kbps via Hayes AT commands, for example, the PC
Card will not shift into any other speeds unless you tell
it otherwise.
Set the IRQ and COM Values
Your communications software should have an area
where you can enter the IRQ and COM values that are
in use by the 10/100 + 56K Modem PC Card. Enter
them now.
If your software is running under Windows 95, 98 or
NT 4.0, you might be able to skip this step; because
Windows 95 and NT 4.0 automatically choose the IRQ
and COM values for the PC Card, they may also inform
your communications software about which values are
in use.
Set the Data Bit, Parity, and Stop Bit Values
Modems are serial devices that communicate in zeroes

10/100 + 56K Modem PC Card can be made to commu-
nicate with either 7 or 8 data bits at a time. 8 data bits is
the most popular standard.
Parity
