Installing or replacing an MCR daughterboard
Daughterboards are installed or replaced due to daughterboard upgrades
or failures. This procedure should be followed when instructed to do so
by Nortel.
Step
Action
To install or replace a daughterboard on an MCR card, follow the steps below:
1
Disable the card requiring the new daughterboard using LD32
(see xxx for procedure).

Remove the MCR card from the system.
3
Place the board on a work surface so that the faceplate is close
to you, and backplane connector away from you.

If metal covers are installed on the MCR board connectors or on
the daughterboard connector, remove and discard them.
5
If replacing an existing daughterboard, hold the two opposing,
outside edges of the daughterboard and lift it straight up.
6
Align the new daughterboard with the connectors.
7
Push the daughterboard straight down into the connectors until
the connectors snap into place.
8
Reinstall the MCR card into the system.
9
Reconfigure the ESAM data (see xxx for procedure).
10
Return the card to service using LD 32 (see xxx for procedure).

Following this procedure results in the loss of ESAM data.

Failure to lift straight up could cause damage to the
connectors.

Once the connectors are snapped together, do
not apply more force or the components may be
damaged.
