Interior motion sensor*
Anti-theft system which triggers an
alarm if the side windows are smashed
and someone reaches into the vehicle
when the vehicle is locked.

System for operating the vehicle with-
out a key.
Kickdown
On vehicles with ->automatic transmis-
sion*, the transmission is shifted down
to a lower gear when the accelerator
pedal is depressed beyond the pres-
sure point. This increases the rate of
vehicle acceleration.
Knock resistance
Resistance of petrol against uncon-
trolled self-ignition of the gas-air mix-
ture in the cylinder head (knocking).
The octane number is a measure of
knock resistance. The higher the oc-
tane number, the higher the knock re-
sistance.
Lamp
Spreads and forms the beam of light
from a ->bulb, e.g. headlamps.
LED
(Light-Emitting Diode);
Semiconductor element that converts
electricity directly into light.

Light sensor
Detects ambient light conditions to
control whether the following lamps
should be switched on and off automat-
ically:
Dipped-beam headlamps
Side lamps
Licence plate lighting
LIM indicator lamp
(Limiter)
Indicator lamp in the ->cruise control
lever which indicates whether the
->Speedtronic variable speed limiter is
activated.
Locking knob
Knob on the door which shows whether
the door is locked or unlocked.
