Washer fluid
Check level
Possible cause/consequence
The battery is not being charged.
Possible causes:
faulty alternator
torn poly-V-belt
Remember that the brake system
requires electrical energy and may
only operate to a limited extent un-
der certain circumstances. Consid-
erably greater braking force will
then be required and the stopping
distance will be increased.
The washer fluid level in the wind-
screen washer fluid reservoir has
dropped below the minimum level.

Possible solution
Stop immediately and check the poly-V-
belt.
If it is torn:
Do not drive any further and inform a
qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
If it is not damaged:
Drive immediately to the nearest quali-
fied specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
Top up the washer fluid ( page 248).
