Problem
The battery check lamp on the remote
control does not light up when tested.
You have lost a remote control.
You have lost the emergency key element.
The key cannot be turned in the ignition
lock.
Possible cause/consequence
The remote control batteries are dis-
charged.
The key has been in position 0 for an ex-
tended period.

Change the batteries ( page 354).
Have the remote control cancelled at a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
Report the loss immediately to the vehi-
cle insurers.
If necessary, have the manual locks
changed too.

Check the starter battery and charge it
