• If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover,
or remove the server from the rack. See "Remove the server from rack" on page 124.

Procedure
Step 1.
Prepare your server.
a.
Remove the top cover. See "Remove the top cover" on page 225.
b.
Remove the PCIe riser where the flash power module is located. See "Remove a PCIe riser" on
page 183.
Step 2.
Disconnect the cable from the flash power module.
Step 3.
Remove the flash power module.
a.
Open the retention latch on the PCIe riser.
b.
Unfasten the screw that secures the flash power module holder bracket to the PCIe riser.
c.
Remove the holder bracket from the PCIe riser.
d.
Press and release the retaining latch.
e.
Remove the flash power module from the holder.

After you finish
1. Install a replacement unit. See "Install the flash power module" on page 149.
2. If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and
use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
3. If you plan to remove or recycle the flash power module holder:
a. Remove the holder from the bracket.

Remove the screw that secures the holder to the bracket.
2)
Slide the holder forward slightly to disengage it from the bracket, and remove the holder.
