Original Width Scale Retraction Mechanism
When the document is positioned on the Original Glass by the ADF, the
leading edge of the document is pressed against the Original Width Scale to
improve positioning accuracy. During turnover and ejection motion,
however, the document must move over the Original Width Scale. For this
reason, the Original Width Scale retraction mechanism is employed.
Scale Solenoid SOL3 is used to drive the retraction mechanism.

When the document is positioned:
While the document is being
transported and during a copy cycle:

The SOL3 is energized and de-energized by the signal output from IC3A on
PWB-A.

SOL3 is de-energized and the Original
Width Scale is raised by the tension of the
Original Width Scale Spring.
SOL3 is energized and the Original Width
Scale is pressed downward by the
Original Width Scale Drive Lever and
spring.
