Method A
Drop counting creates fractions by advancing the drop former at
a fixed number of drops. This option uses a photosensor device
positioned just below the drop former.
Note
Drop counting can create relatively uniform collection tube vol-
umes even when the delivered flow rate varies. However, if the
fluid viscosity varies while running a gradient, the collection
tube volumes may vary.
Note
The drop count option assumes that the flow rate is slow
enough to produce drops instead of a stream of liquid. Conse-
quently, drop counting is not supported by the Foxy R2 High
Flow fraction collector.
To create fractions based on drop counts:
1. Touch the Drop Count icon to open the settings display
(Figure 3-10).
