Remote Control
You can use your DVR's remote to control the power, volume, mute, and TV input
settings on your TV. For instructions and codes to program the remote control, see the
Installation Guide that came with your DVR.
Video
Connection to Digital Media Server. Select this if you change the type of video cable you
used to connect your cable or satellite box to the DVR—for example, if you decide to

replace a Composite cable connection with an S-Video connection. The next screen you
see depends on whether you have one or two video sources. See page 6 for details on the
Connection to Digital Media Server screens.
RF Video Input. If you used an RF coaxial cable to connect your program source to your
DVR, you can choose to smooth the video using the RF Video Input screen, which will
decrease any static you may see on some channels. However, it will cause images on all
channels carried to your DVR on an RF cable to lose some sharpness.
Progressive Format - TV. If you connected your DVR to your TV using a Component
Video cable (and set the INTERLACE/PROGRESSIVE switch on the back of the DVR to
"P" for "Progressive"), use this screen to choose your preferred Progressive Format
setting for TV programs. By default, the DVR automatically detects whether a program
viewed in progressive format should be shown in Film or Video format. In very rare
circumstances, auto detection may result in poor image quality for programs that should
be displayed in Video format (relatively few programs should use Film format). In these
cases, you can use the Progressive Format Icon on the Channel Banner to turn off auto-
detection for an individual program (see page 20). This screen gives you the option of
turning off the auto-detection feature for all programs and always using Video format.
