CHECKING CHAIN AND SPROCKETS
FOR WEAR
Visually inspect chain, front and rear sprockets looking for:
•
Damaged chain rollers.
•
Loose chain link pins.
•
Dry, rusty, warped or seized links.
•
Exceeding wear.
•
Missing O-rings.
•
Exceedingly worn or damaged sprocket teeth.
WARNING
If chain rollers are damaged, chain link pins
are loose, renew the drive chain and the front
and rear sprockets as a set.
The chain should be lubricated frequently,
especially after finding any dry or rusty
components.
Lubricate and repair any warped or seized
chain links.
•
Check the chain tensioner roller (1) for wear.
•
Lastly, check the slider that protects the swinging arm
for wear.
