6.3 RESETTING THE WASTE INK COUNTER

When the waste ink absorber (located in the lower case) becomes full, the
printer displays a maintenance request error. The following table shows
how to clear the error.

If you use the control panel method, several EEPROM values will be
cleared. Therefore, you must change both waste ink pads at the same
time. If you use the service program, counter A or B can be cleared
separately; the waste ink pads can be replaced individually. Usually, the
two pads fill up almost simultaneously; it's easier to replace both pads and
reset both counters at once.

6.4 LUBRICATION AND ADHESION

The lubricants and adhesives specified in this service manual have been
chosen based on technical information analysis and results from the
experimental use of a wide range of lubricants and adhesives. These
substances have a considerable effect on the performance and durability
of the printer.
Clean all lubrication points before lubricating them. Make sure the printing
mechanism is clear of dirt or dust after cleaning, disassembling, or

assembling the printer. Adhere all specified parts when assembling the
printer or replacing the parts. Use an adequate amount of adhesive, and
let it dry thoroughly. Overflows of surplus adhesive may cause
malfunctions in nearby parts.

adhesion points. For more detail, see Figures 6-2 through 6-6.
