12. Turn the printer off and release the carriage lock. (See Figure 5-4.)
Note: The carriage lock is made up of 2 levers. When you push down on
the lower lever, the upper lever automatically falls to the side, allowing you
to move the carriage.

CAUTION
Do not rotate the paper feed drive gear by
hand. Touching this gear may cause unstable
paper feed pitching. If you need to rotate this
gear, use the 2 small knobs on the gear
surface.
