Replace the In-line Fuel Strainer -
Deutz Models
Engine specifications require that this procedure
be performed every 500 hours or 6 months,
whichever comes first.
Replacing the diesel fuel strainer is essential for
good engine performance and service life. A dirty
or clogged filter may cause the engine to perform
poorly and continued use may cause component
damage.
Explosion and fire hazard. Engine
fuels are combustible. Perform this
procedure in an open, well-
ventilated area away from heaters,
sparks, flames and lighted
tobacco. Always have an
approved fire extinguisher within
easy reach.
Note: Perform this procedure with the engine off.
1 Put on protective clothing and eye wear.
2 Locate the inline strainer above the throttle
actuator solenoid.
4 Place a suitable container under the filter.
5 Loosen the clamp holding the strainer to the
engine mount. Loosen the clamps securing the
fuel lines to the strainer. Remove and replace.

performed every 800 hours.
Proper engine maintenance, following the engine
manufacturer's maintenance schedule, is essential
to good engine performance and service life.
Failure to perform the maintenance procedures
can lead to poor engine performance and
component damage.

To access the engine:
Remove the engine tray retaining fasteners
located under the engine tray. Loosen the pivot
fastener located at the platform end of the
engine tray. Swing the engine tray out and
away from the machine and secure it from
moving.
