Possible cause/consequence
You attempted to switch on the Night-
view system but the light switch was
not at * or B.
Also, the transmission is in position R.
You attempted to switch on the Night-
view system in the daylight.
S 600 only:
The engine oil level is too low. There is
a risk of engine damage.
S 600 only:
The engine oil level is too low.
S 600 only:
You have added too much engine oil.
There is a risk of damaging the engine
or catalytic converter.
Possible solution
Turn the light switch to *
Move the transmission selector lever to P,
N or D.
It is only possible to switch on the Nightview
system when it is dark.
Stop the vehicle. Pay attention to the traffic
conditions.
Switch off the engine.
Top up engine oil and check the engine oil
level ( page 395).
Check the engine oil level ( page 395)
and top up the engine oil if necessary.
Have the engine checked for leaks if the
engine oil needs topping up more often
than usual.
Siphon off engine oil to the specified level.
Observe the legal requirements.
