RF-Converter P4LT

The module P4LT is the heart of the ETL600 equipment. It performs
the following main functions:
Conversion of the signals from LF (Low Frequency) to RF (Radio
Frequency)
DPLC modem MOD600
Up to four AF modems NSK600
Data-multiplexer MUX600
Hardware and software supervision for the complete equipment
Up to three pilot channels offering the functions:
Automatic measurement of the frequency response of the APLC
channels with calculation of the equalizer filters
Serial port for entering settings and for supervision by means of
PC, to be connected to the equipment either directly or via a
modem link
Up to two integrated teleprotection devices NSD600
Bus-master for the ETL600 TDM-bus, for communication to
optional O4LE and G4AI boards
Three alarm relays with switch-over contacts for system
alarm/cabinet alarm, hardware alarm and link alarm
Two V.24 data interface ports
One V.11 data interface port
IRIG-B input for synchronization of the internal real time clock
(RTC)
All functions are executed by six DSPs, a microcontroller, a Field
Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and associated peripheral circuits
such as Analog to Digital Converter (ADC), Digital to Analog Converter
(DAC), Buffer, Driver, Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter
(UART), Watchdog Device, Random Access Memory (RAM), Flash
Electrically PROgrammable Memory (Flash EPROM), clock oscillator,
±12V supervision, and more.
The frequency conversions AF to RF and RF to AF are implemented
completely with digital signal processing so that no analog filters,
mixers and the like are required, giving excellent thermal stability. This
technique is called Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS).
