1.1 Introduction to SNMP

This part describes the NM Station, SNMP agent, and MIB, and their relationships.
The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) consists of the Network Management
Station (NMS) and the agent. SNMP is an application protocol that defines transmission of
management information between the NM Station and the agent.
NM Station
The NM Station is a station on which the client program runs.

Sending various request packets to network devices.
Receiving response packets and Trap messages from the managed devices and showing the
result.
Receiving and analyzing request packets from the NM Station.
Performing the Read or Write operation on management variables according to the type of
packet and generating a Response packet to respond to the NM Station.
Sending a Trap message to the NM Station to report the events such as entering or quitting
the system view or restarting the device once the triggering conditions configured on each
protocol module are matched.
