Replacing the SCSI Backplane

1. Power off the system and ensure it is disconnected from the AC power
source.
Your system weighs approximately 65 pounds (29.25 kg). If
your system contains numerous optional boards and
peripheral devices, it will weigh more. To avoid personal
injury, make sure you have someone help you lift or move
the system.
2. With the assistance of another person, remove the system from the system
rack and place it on a clean surface.
3. Remove the top cover as described earlier in this chapter.
4. Tag and remove all hard disk drive carriers from the system following
procedures found in the Hard Disk Drives section of this chapter.
Note:
includes an optional 5.25-inch removable media device;
otherwise, go to Step 7.
5. If your system includes an optional 5.25-inch removable media device,
remove the device's power and signal cables.
6. Slide the removable media device partially out of drive bay 6 to allow access
to the CDROM and floppy diskette drive power and signal cables by
pushing in on the rail clips and then pulling the bay partially out of the
system (Figure 4-58).
