-
Note the engine speed shown in display block
1.
-
Note the lambda probe voltage shown in dis-
play block 3 and the range within which it
varies.
-
Spray the parts of the intake system system-
atically with engine leak detection spray.
If there is no change to the engine speed or to
the lambda probe voltage:
-
Press the → key.
-
Press keys 0 and 6 for the function End
output and confirm the entry with the key Q.
If the engine speed drops or if there is a change
to the lambda probe voltage:
-
Press the → key.
-
Press keys 0 and 6 for the function End
output and confirm the entry with the key Q.
-
Inspect the sprayed part of the intake sys-
tem for leaks and rectify the fault.
Testing
The lambda probe compares the oxygen con-
tent of the air with the residual oxygen in the
exhaust gas and supplies a voltage signal to
the engine control unit.
The voltage signal rich mixture (low level of
residual oxygen) is at approx. 0.7...1.0 V (re-
lated to reference earth).
The voltage signal lean mixture (large level of
residual oxygen) is at approx. 0.0...0.3 V (re-
lated to reference earth).
A voltage jump from 0.7...1.0 V to 0.0...0.3 V
and vice versa takes place at the transition from
rich mixture to lean mixture and vice versa.
