Check for proper opera-
tion
Testing lambda probe -G39- and lambda
control upstream of catalytic converter
Special tools, test and measuring equipment and
auxiliary items required
Handheld multimeter, e.g. -V.A.G 1526 A oder B-
Measuring tool set, e.g. -V.A.G 1594 A, B oder C-
Test conditions
Fuse 43 must be o.k.
Battery voltage at least 11.5 V.
The fuel pump relay must be OK.
Test sequence
Connect vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-. Start en-
gine and select the address word 01 „Engine electron-
ics"
Chapter 01-1.
For engines with the engine identification characters
AEG, APK
Check display groups 030, 031, 032, 033 and 041
Chapter 01-6.
For engines with engine codes AQY, AZH, AZJ
Check display groups 030, 031, 032, 033, 034, 036,
041 and 107
Chapter 01-6 and 01-7.
If the specified values are not reached:
For engines with engine codes AEG, APK, AQY
Test resistance of heating element between the con-
tacts 1 + 2.
For engines with engine codes AZH, AZJ
Test resistance of heating element between the con-
tacts 3 + 4.
Continued for all engines
Note
At ambient temperature the resistance of the heating ele-
ment should be approx. 1...5 . The resistance increases
considerably even if the temperature rises only slightly.
Test voltage supply of heater and cables to - Z19-.
If the specified resistance is reached and the voltage sup-
ply for heater and cables to -Z19- is o.k.
Start engine.
For engines with engine codes AEG, APK, AQY
