For long distances

Before you move the printer, prepare the location where
you are going to place it.
See the following sections.

Repacking the printer
If you need to transport your printer for long distances,
carefully repack it using the original box and packing
materials.

Turn off the printer and remove the following
items:
❏ Power cord
❏ Interface cables
❏ Loaded paper
❏ Installed options

Attach the protective materials onto the printer,
then repack the printer in its original box.

Important:
When moving the printer, always keep it
horizontal.

Installing Options

Optional printer stand

Follow the instructions that come with the printer stand
to install it directly to:
❏ the optional paper cassette
❏ the printer
If you are installing the multiple paper cassette units,
first install the printer stand on the lowest optional
paper cassette unit, then install the upper optional paper
cassette units one by one. Lastly, install the printer on
the top.

The available optional paper cassette units are as
follows:
❏ AL-M8200/AL-M8100 Series
500-Sheet Paper Cassette Unit × 4
❏ AL-M7100 Series
500-Sheet Paper Cassette Unit × 3

Important:
Do not open two or more paper cassettes at the
same time, doing so may make the printer unstable
and cause it to fall over.
Handling precautions
Always pay attention to the following handling
precautions before installing the option:
Be sure to lift the printer from the positions shown
below.
Do not touch the projections on the bottom of the
printer that are for connecting an optional paper
cassette.

Caution:
If you lift the printer incorrectly, you could drop it
and cause injury.
