Reassembly
Reassembly is done in the reverse order of disas-
sembly.
Pistons and connecting rods
1. The piston pin is clearance-fitted to the piston. To
facilitate pin insertion, heat the piston with a
piston heater or in hot water.
2. Coat the piston pin with engine oil, then insert it in
position through the connecting rod.
3. Install the connecting rod to the piston with the
matching marks on the large end on the camshaft
side.
4. Use the Ring pliers to install the snap rings in the
grooves of the piston. Make sure that the rings
are not fatigued and that they fit in the grooves
properly.
NOTE! Position the ends of both snap rings at the
bottom of the pin bore.
Piston rings
1. Use the Piston ring tool to install the piston rings
on the piston
IMPORTANT! The top piston ring and second
piston ring are marked "RH", and the oil ring is
marked "R" near the gap. Install the rings with these
marks upwards. Faulty mounting will cause excessive
oil consumption and overheating.
2. Install the oil ring with its gap positioned at 180°
from the coil spring joint.
