Thread breakage during embroidery

Sometimes the upper thread can
either break or run out while you are
embroidering. If this happens, the
sewing computer stops automatically.
If the lower thread breaks or runs
out, only artista 180 stops automa-
tically.
Artista 165 and artista 170 don't fea-
ture a lower thread control, and so
doesn't stop automatically when the
lower thread breaks or runs out.
Activate upper and lower thread
control using the Setup program
(see the sewing computer instruction
manual).
Lower thread runs out
· only artista 180 stops automatically
if the lower thread runs out (1–6 m
remaining thread of average
thickness; up to 15 m with a fine
thread)
· a message appears on the screen
· check the lower thread, refill spool
· touch "esc" to return to the sewing
screen
· artista 165 and artista 170 don't
stop automatically
Stitch sequence control
(when thread breaks)
To check:
· touch the right or left arrow
(right = forward, left = reverse)
· the embroidery hoop is moved
through the stitch sequence
· touch continuously to run through
the sequence quickly
Beginning embroidery again
· set the needle sufficiently far back
for the embroidery to start a few
stitches before the break
· touch "ok"
· the sewing screen appears
· lower the presser foot
· start sewing by pressing the foot
control or the securing button on
the head frame

Upper thread breaks
· the artista 165, artista 170 and arti-
sta 180 stop if the upper thread
breaks or runs out
· an error message appears on the
screen
· check the thread and re-thread if
necessary
· touch "esc" to return to the sewing
screen
Stitch sequence control when thread
breaks
· touch the stitch control symbol in
the sewing screen
· the screen changes
When thread breaks:
· touch the left arrow once
· the needle is moved back approxi-
mately 6 stitches
· touch the arrow again
· the needle moves back one step
at a time
· touch continuously to move the
needle more quickly
· after the first few stitches, the
sewing computer stops
· cut the thread ends
· complete the motif
