The exhaust valve stem is chrome-plated on
these engines and filled with sodium due to high
temperatures in the combustion chamber.
Warning!
Unserviceable sodium filled valves must be
neutralised before scrapping. They must
therefore be collected and sent to:

After machining or replacing valves, the installed
length of hydraulic valve clearance compensating
elements must be checked and corrected if
necessary (05214).
