VOLVO IPS DIESEL KEY SWITCH
The Volvo ignition switch type EVC-C features the follow-
ing markings to identify key operating positions.
S= Stop
O=To Remove the key
I= Ignition
II-III=Start (Spring Loaded)
To stop the engine, turn the key to the "S" position. Keep
the key turned until the engine stops. Since this position is
spring loaded the key will return to the "O" mode where
it can be removed.
Note: When the engine is stopped the drive unit will auto-
matically be positioned in the straight forward position.
NOTICE
TO PREVENT ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
DAMAGE, NEVER TURN "OFF" THE
BATTERY SWITCHES BEFORE IGNITION KEY
IS REMOVED OR IN THE "O" POSITION.
NOTICE
WITH THE ELECTRIC BATTERY SWITCHES
IN THE "OFF" POSITION
THERE IS NO POWER TO THE DASH
KEY SWITCHES.
To start the engine, turn
the key to the spring
loaded II-III position.
When the engine starts
release the key. It will
spring back to the I po-
sition. Do not crank the
engine over 20 seconds
as damage to the starting
system may result.

Note: The large house battery (in the blue box) is not part
of the battery parallel circuitry. If the battery parallel sys-
