Mounting Equipment
The following information should be used in
conjunction with the site requirements described in the
ACCULINK Access Controller Reference Guide and the
COMSPHERE 3000 Series Carrier Installation Manual.
A single WDG system comprises one ACCULINK
Access Controller (AAC) and up to three COMSPHERE
3000 Series Carriers. These require one of the following
for mounting and support:
One COMSPHERE 72-Inch Equipment Cabinet
(Part Number 4000-B2-200).
Any standard EIA 19-inch or 23-inch equipment
cabinet with sufficient vertical space for one AAC
(10 inches), up to three COMSPHERE 3000 Series
Carriers (11 inches each), and any power
distribution equipment.
Allow sufficient space in the front and rear of the
cabinet to permit access for installation and maintenance.
Provide sufficient ventilation to maintain temperatures
in the normal operating range for the equipment. See
Appendix A.
Power
The WDG requires – 48 Vdc power, and the maximum
configuration uses 519 watts.
Calculate fuse requirements according to the following:
2 amps for the AAC
3 amps for each fully-loaded carrier

T1 Interface
A fully-configured WDG requires two T1 lines. Either
DSX or CSU operation is supported, controlled by the
type of plug-in card attached to the WAN card in the
AAC. Either D4 or ESF formats are supported, controlled
by software in the AAC.
Note that the RJ48 T1 cables supplied with the AAC
use stranded wire; they should not be used for a wire wrap
connection. Obtain solid-wire cables for a wire wrap
connection.
Call Routing
So that cellular calls can be identified and routed
through the WDG, the cellular user dials a special prefix
(typically *DATA, or *3282) before the destination phone
number.
Configuring the switch for proper routing according to
the prefix is the responsibility of the switch administrator.
Once the routing has been arranged, it can be tested
using a cellular phone, a laptop PC, a PCMCIA modem,
and standard communications software. See Chapter 6.
