The power tailgate may not open or
close, or reverse direction while
operating under the following
conditions.
Turn the ignition switch to start
the engine while the tailgate is
operating.
The vehicle is parked on hills with
a steep grade.
The strong wind sways the vehicle
in bad weather.
The tailgate or the roof is covered
with snow or ice. Make sure to
remove the build-up of snow on
the tailgate or the roof.
Auto Reverse
The tailgate has an auto reverse
feature. If the tailgate meets
resistance while opening or closing,
it will beep three times and
automatically reverse direction.
However, the force of the operating
tailgate may cause bruising or
discomfort. Always make sure
passengers and any objects are well
away from the power tailgate
operating range before opening or
closing the tailgate.
Also check that passengers,
especially children, do not have their
hands on the edge of the tailgate or
on the tailgate sill. The auto reverse
feature stops working when the
tailgate is about to latch so the motor
can pull the tailgate shut.
Keys and Locks
The tailgate has sensors on a part of
the tailgate opening on both sides.
Be careful not to damage the sensors.
If the sensors are damaged, the
power tailgate does not function.
The sensors cannot cover all parts of
the tailgate, so the auto reverse
feature may not be functional.
