Electric dryers not heating properly (Possible E 5b)
Note: Always check wiring to the components.
Below 215 VAC.
Have customer
check house wiring.
Not the same as
between L1 & L2.
Check for poor
connections in the
dryer heating circuit.

Program the dryer for a Normal
Cycle with High Temp and touch
Start. Measure the voltage drop
between L1 and L2 at the terminal
Measure the voltage drop
between two terminals of the
heating element.
Check the resistance of the
control thermistor at room
temperature.
10%.
Defective electronic
control.

Above 215 VAC.
The same as
between L1 & L2.
50,000 Ohms +/- 10%.
Defective
thermistor.
