1 Before Disassembling the Unit
Generally, the iR-M1 requires no regular service or maintenance. Use the procedures in
this chapter to inspect, remove, reseat, and replace major hardware components and install
system software.
1.1 Overview
This chapter includes the following service information:
• Accessing internal components
• Cable connections
• Circuit boards
• Replaceable parts on the motherboard
• Fans
• Power switch
• Power supply
• Hard disk drive
• Front panel components
• System software service
See F04-102-01 on page 4-2 for an overview of components. Replacement parts are avail-
able from your authorized service representative.
Inside the chassis, the power supply is not encased. Before you service the
iR-M1, power it off completely and unplug the AC power cable from the
back. When performing the service procedures described in this chapter,
follow all precautions listed in "Precautions" on page v.
The tools required to service the iR-M1 are listed in "Tools you will need"
on page vii.

1.2 System Software Service
iR-M1 system software is installed on the HDD at the factory. Use the system software
service kit to reinstall system software when you:
• Replace the HDD
• Upgrade to a more recent version of the system software (for information on installing
system software, see "iR-M1 system software" on page 4-36).
