Replacing Gateway Convertible Notebook Components

Preparing the convertible notebook

Warning
To prepare the convertible notebook for maintenance:

Make sure that the CD or DVD drive is empty.

Turn off the convertible notebook and unplug the power cord, modem cable, and
network cable.

Make sure the LCD panel is in notebook mode, then close the LCD panel.

Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove any PC Cards.

Unplug from the optional port replicator from the notebook.

Remove the main and optional secondary battery. For more information, see
"Removing the main battery" on page 7

To avoid exposure to dangerous electrical voltages and moving parts,
turn off the convertible notebook, remove the battery, and unplug the
power cord, modem cable, and network cable before opening the
case. Replace the cover before you restore power or reconnect the
modem and network cables.
